Methods for Upper Lip Hair Removal

Posted by Nashua Electrolysis on August 21, 2019

One of the most commonly treated areas for hair removal in Brookline NH and surrounding areas, is the upper lip.  Affecting teenage girls and women alike, the upper lip can be an area of much embarrassment.  Whether you have blonde hair or dark hair, the upper lip is an area that is noticeable to all. This article will highlight several different available methods of hair removal for the upper lip.  And, of course, why electrolysis should be the only method you consider.

Shaving

One of the cheapest and easiest ways to remove unwanted hair is with a good old fashion razor.  However, you need to be fully aware of the repercussions that come with shaving, especially when it concerns your face. Shaving is one of the most temporary methods of hair removal available.  Often, regrowth will begin within two days of shaving.  However, the hair that grows back tends not only to be darker, but thicker, and it will grow back quicker than before.

Tweezing

Similar to shaving, tweezing is another cost-effective at-home method of hair removal.   However, tweezing, if done correctly, will remove the hair at its root allowing for a more extended period between regrowth.  Sounds great, right? If it seems too good to be true, chances are it’s too good to be true.  Even though tweezing provides an immediate solution, if done incorrectly, you can cause more damage than good.  Ingrown hairs, skin irritations, and damage to fragile skin are just a few of the most common side effects of facial tweezing. And don’t forget, you’ll have to keep tweezing!

Waxing

Painful to sensitive areas, waxing will provide the solution you desire for a few weeks.  However, not only is waxing a painful temporary method of hair removal, but it can cause burns and leave red irritation marks for all to see.

Bleaching

If you want to make the hair on your upper lip less obvious, you can consider bleaching them.  First, test a small area to be sure you don’t have a reaction.  However, bleaching is not always the best choice if your hair is coarse or skin has pigment.  The bleach may not work on those pesky stiff hairs, and bleached hair can be more noticeable on darker skin.  Further, this process will need to be repeated every 2 to 4 weeks.

Electrolysis

The only method that will permanently remove unwanted hair is electrolysis.  Administered by trained professionals, electrolysis is suitable for all areas, especially sensitive ones like the upper lip.  With the proper aftercare, electrolysis provides a rash-free, hair-free solution.
